Spartan version is ready for users/testers: http://atari.8bitchip.info/STEbap.html
There is one short audio WAV file in archive too, for easier start. But user needs to do conversions to proper WAV self on PC for new files. Doing it on STE is bad idea, I think - it will take too much time in case of samplerate conversion, what is a must.
Proggy does only unsigned-signed conversion, because it is not option in most of PC audio SW (if there is it at all ?) .
Better version is under work. I posted spare version, so people can test it. It is made mostly for developing 'engine', testings on diverse platforms. But main code for background playback is in, what will be same in full version.
Works fine on a TT here. Thanks ;)
Everything new on old Atari,s is a like fresh juice thanks petari.
(i wait the latest version to test..)
That looks very interesting, will be added to my desktop ,thank you.Talking of ste audio i was thinking the other day if there is a way of cleaning up the noise associated with the ste phono outputs as you turn up the volume and if a software graphic equaliser has ever been created for ste.
Thanks again :)
I test it on my STE 4mb /Ultrasatadisk 4GB SD, ppera HD boot image hd file.. working perfect,
mp3 converting to wav stereo ,8-bit PCM, 48000 Hz (DAT)
sound has very good quality and clear on STE.
good work petari.

I can't hear noise from my STE - but as earlier said, my ears are pretty bad :-)
There is no CPU power to perform some equal. or even anything simpler on STE. The solution is likely in making some repair of your old STE. I mean replacing weakened electrolyth capacitors in PS, sound circuits.
Or : you need to feed STE with already cleaned up WAV files - if problem is there - check on PC with your earphones.
Full version is on page : http://atari.8bitchip.info/STEbap.html
More formats supported, playlist etc ...
hi
have problem with new version.. same wav file (works fine on beta version) the new version cant convert that and program (application) freezed, after if trying pressing some buttons computers system freeze also..
New version does checkings of proper WAV format - if it is not OK it will not convert. Or may even crash if WAV is in some unusual format, header bad.
Take care about proper WAV parameters: 50066 or 25033 samplerate, 8-bit PCM, mono or stereo. No any Meta Data in.
you have right.. i follow info program, and i use the Audacity 1.3 for converting, all working now,
thanks.

I discovered that my STE makes too much noise during playback. Better said clickings - most noticeable in silent parts. It is similar to old scratched vinyl disk clicks, and I even thought that MP3 source was problem. But not - it is STE for sure, as on Mega STE or in emulators no noise. For sure it is some HW problem, likely caused by age of machine.
I managed to do on-fly samplerate conversion with usual WAV, CDA files. See here for more, and some programing considerations:

Petari: Your audio player is really cool :D Now I can play my favourite songs on my Atari :) Thank you very much!
