REQUIRING HELP PLAYING GAMEX ADAPTED GAMES
« on: 16-11-2013, 07:54:21 »
Hi, all this is my first post.
I'm a 8-16BIT computer fan.

Now it's time for ATARI ST(F, soon E). I already have a 130XE, 2x 7800.

I plan to get a ultrasatan and play the adapted games later on from it.

But at the moment i'm trying the adapted games using steem.

And i have no idea on how to setup the harddisk and what to install to play all games.
Do i need to install gamex? Where to find files?

ie... when i launch alien syndrome and many others from steem it goes back to tos with weird colors.
Or Wrath of the Demon, one of my prefered games, gives me with a black screen and do not go on loading.

Help would be really appreciated.  :)

Older adaptations - those which have file named START.TOS for running and background is green colored at DL pages need true hard disk emulation in Steem (or Hatari) .
It is not so hard to set up emulators for it.
Easiest way is that you DL prepared hard disk image with driver:   http://atari.8bitchip.info/DiskImgPP1.html
There is link at top.  It contains some games and hard disk driver.
You need for Steem :  Pasti.dll       http://pasti.fxatari.com/
Copy pasti.dll in Steem DIR, copy hard disk image too there, then start Steem . Will see new setting in Disk Manager menu - Pasti configuration. There need to check on Hard disk Enable and select image file.  After that reset Steem and will have autoboot of hard disk driver as it is on real machines.
And then mentioned games will work fine.  You can copy there another ones simply - from logical drive you set as 'Hard drives' .

Newer games - those where is RUNME.TOS for start, and DL pages are light green can work in Steem from PC hard disk directly.
