I made updates to freeware DOS partitioned (so good for easy data exchange with some PC, even MAC) drive (media) hard disk driver, IDE variant.

DL version 0.98B :  http://atari.8bitchip.info/IDEP_98B.ZIP

It is practically final version, will update it only on some reasonable request or in case that someone find some bug(s) .

Features:  works with DOS partitioned hard disks, Flash cards. Up to 14 FAT16 partitions with max size of 2 GB each (first 1GB max) .  Autoboot with TOS 2.06, 4.0x  or with patched TOS 1.0x .
Support for twisted IDE cable - what will increase speed very much - about 1350 KB/sec.
Works on ST, STE, Mega ST, Mega STE, Falcon.
New feature: CFG file for some settings like Blitter usage, Write protection, Hole, Xhdi off ...

Easy install. Needs BIGDOS.PRG in case of partitions larger than 32MB.

hello

your driver works well for a short time. after 2 minutes of usage hard drive isn't recognized. clicking on the icon doesn't open a folder and it's impossible to close a window. i need to reload your driver from a floppy to recover the usage of my hard disk drive.
what's the problem?

This freeware version is not good for gaming. Because it needs BIGDOS (btw. on Falcon you need BIGDOSF).
Some games may work, but generally it is not good.
Use driver suplied with image files from here:  http://atari.8bitchip.info/DiskImgPP1.html .

In any case, I need more details:  what is your hard disk (or CF card) brand, model ? How you partitioned it ? On PC ?

Installing driver is not enough.  Hard disk must be partitioned with special partitioner, what makes it TOS/DOS compatible. So, you need to partition it again with my program SPP7 on Falcon (or some ST(E) ). After it may install driver PGAU99 (from floppy).
Here is the package with programs:  http://atari.8bitchip.info/IDETDD.ZIP
Tested with with (slow) 2.5 inch hard disk.
