Title: Bug Report: SuperCars
Post by: Dal on 15-01-2015, 15:53:52
System: MegaST4
HDDriver: 9.04
Problem: The initial game title screen loads (Super Cars - A Magnetic Fields Production), but the game doesn't respond to joystick fire button or keyboard (should be able to press M to toggle music & fx).  F9 does take me back to the desktop.

Thanx for this report. It is not rare case - usual reason is that code is sensitive on any input during game start, intro.
Solution is to disable input, and enable after start seq.  I will make update in few days.  In meantime try with not move mouse, not pressing any key until music plays for some seconds .

Updated, tested - OK.
Problem was actually Timer-C related - Hddriver likes not if it is changed from default 200Hz TOS timer.

ARGHH I was just moments ago playing this and it seemed to try and access the floppy disk. After buying lots of goodies from the Garage and then clicking to play track 7.... and then the ST rebooted. Gutted, as this was a good game (for me) lol

Cold booted this time (CTRL key held down) and it did the same again starting track 2.
(Mega STE / TOS 2.06 / 4MB ram)

TIA :)

edit:
to save yet another posting... I'll edit this one ;-)
Well, I re-copied over the files again (just in case) and started from a cold boot / CTRL held down also. Same result after track 4 this time

Tested on my Mega STE and in Steem - no problem appears. Same config as by you.

that's so strange, I'll have to try this again. The only thing is, I had a floppy in the drive (I always have - it's blank but the boot sector is setup using Bootsie app. IE it sets my Mega STe to 16mhz from boot up...etc.etc..)

I'll try again without the floppy inside. TIA
Steve

ps
Which partition was you on Peter? My games are on Drive D

Well, same again. I even set the Ram to 1mb just but same result. The crashing appears pretty random too fwiw..
I've given up and downloaded the Automation menu cd 229. Used your Image Runner and the game plays perfect. Got to track no.9 too, my best game ever lol

Although I must admit to be a little worried why the adapted version fails me. Hope there's nothing wrong with my computer :/

Thanks Peter. appreciate the graft mate.
