Look last picture there, which is last rev. No more expensive crystal on it.
Knowing exxos (much better after year spent watching his lame questions and posts at his 'forum') , I really can not think anything other except that he was inspired by this:

Maybe he use the internal crystal on eprom chip? dunno..

LOL . Was it supposed to be a joke ?
Actually, what exists on some EPROM chips is voltage converter, but that's possible to make with silicon . Crystal not.
